Student Behavior

We believe all students can behave appropriately and our Rancho RULES is a philosophy of positive behavior support. We will not tolerate any student interfering with the learning in the classroom or creating an unsafe environment. Individual teachers will introduce students to their classroom expectations and provide these written expectations on Back to School Night for parents.

Handling misbehavior: If a teacher has utilized all of his/her classroom management techniques and strategies and a student repeatedly misbehaves, he/she may be referred to the office for administrative intervention:

Such misbehaviors may include:

  • Continuous classroom disruptions
  • Creating an unsafe learning environment
  • Open defiance, disrespect, or non-compliance
  • Truancies or excessive tardies
  • Physical contact/aggression
  • Profanity or vulgarity
  • Violation of our technology use agreement or electronic devices policy 
  • Violation of our Academic Honesty Policy

 

Consequences may include, but are not limited to:

  • Parent involvement
  • Detention or Saturday School
  • Written reflection
  • Assignment of school or community service
  • Referral to counselor
  • Loss of privileges
  • Alternative to Suspension (ATS)
  • Suspension either on or off campus
  • Behavior Contract
  • SARB Referral for Discipline
  • Police notification
