Dear Eighth Grade Students and Parents,
The end of the year activities for eighth grade students at Rancho San Joaquin Middle School include the following privileges:
PROMOTION DANCE: Friday, May 31st, 6:00 – 8:30 P.M.
On Friday, May 31st at 6:00 P.M., eighth grade Rancho students whose behavior and performance have been appropriate are invited to attend the Promotion Dance, which is held in our MPR. Light refreshments will be available. Only current eighth grade students from Rancho San Joaquin Middle School are permitted to attend the dance. Attire for the dance should be “dressy” (for example: a dress, skirt, pants, collared shirt,). We will make an exception in the dress code for this particular dance in regards to spaghetti strap dresses. However, clothing that does not cover undergarments or the midriff area is prohibited. Rancho ASB and PTA parents have sponsored and organized this activity; therefore, there is no admission cost to attend. Students are expected to remain at the dance until 8:30 P.M. unless their parent picks them up personally prior to that time.
YEARBOOKS: Wednesday, June 5th
Yearbooks will be distributed in Advisement to all students who have pre-purchased them. There have been several yearbook sales and they can still be purchased for $65 until June 3rd at http://www.jostens.com/. The cost to purchase any extras on/after June 3rd will be $70.00. Because yearbooks are an important treasure of our Rancho days, all students should ensure that their name is clearly written on their yearbook, in permanent marker, and that the books are not left unsupervised. Rancho is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged yearbooks. Any student vandalizing and/or making inappropriate comments on another student’s yearbook will be held responsible for repairing or replacing the yearbook and may lose one or more end of the year privileges. Yearbooks will be held until any/all textbooks fines are paid.
PROMOTION CEREMONY: Friday, June 7th, 10:30 – 11:30 A.M.
On Friday, June 7th at 10:30 A.M., eighth grade Rancho students whose behavior and performance have been appropriate will be honored in a promotion ceremony located in the quad. Student dress for this activity should be nice school clothes. Parents are welcome and invited to attend. Students will be dismissed at the end of the promotion. Students should report to school at 9:30 A.M. There is NO bus service for students on June 7th.
